Lessons For Those Who Fast

30 Lessons For Those Who Fast

By Aa’id Abdullah al Qarni. In relation to fasting, this book contains the most pertinent Qur’anic verses, authentic ahadeeth, delightful poetry and touching advice. It is therefore, a book for the righteous when they meet for pleasant conversations. It is also a gift for wayfarers when they break their journeys for rest, a treasure for those who share mutual love and respect – For Ramadhan is indeed the noblest month and its days are the sweetest days…

The Nature of Fasting

By: Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah
This is a translation one of the smaller publications from the works of Shaykh Al-Islam Taqiuddin Ahmad bin ‘Abdul-Halim Ibn Taymiyyah. It has been published in this form a variety of times with a number of minor additions to the text under the title, “Hagigatus-Siyam,” or, “The Nature of Fasting.” We have revised our version to meet the source section of Majmu’ AI-Fatawa (25:219) from where it appears that the original booklet – with the exception of the questions, of which most appear on earlier pages – has been taken. We have inserted brackets to signify the additions, which earlier publishers probably took from other sections of his writings. We have also added brief references to the text for the Hadiths. I would like to express gratitude to brother Ebrahim Aly Ma’rouf for the original translation of this booklet, and the Darussalam staff for their editing and layout work.

Fasting in Ramadan

By Abdul Karim Awad. With the advent of another Ramadan, a mixture of feelings overwhelm the hearts of Muslims all over the world. The hearts are full of hope, based on truthful promises and glad tidings given by Allah and his Messenger, of great bounties and endless bliss. The past sins would be forgiven for those who fast, based on belief (Emaan) and truly expecting the reward of Allah (Ihtisaab). The previous sins will be forgiven for those who offer night prayers (Qiyaam) during this month, and who do this with the 2 conditions of Emaan (belief) and Ihtisaab. There is a night on this month which is better (in rewards) than a thousand months of worship, and all sins will be forgiven for those who spend this night in offering prayer with both Emaan (belief) and Ihtisaab. The devils will be chained down, the gates of Hell will all be shut and the gates of paradise will alll be open throughout this month. Allahj will free (from punishment) some of his Ibaad (worshippers) on every night of this month of Ramadan. Allah answers the du’aa (suplications) of the fasting person at the Iftaar (fast- breaking). Allah multiplies the reward of fasting beyond the limits of imagination. The fasting person will be joyous and happy when he meets his Lord.

Matters Related to Fasting

by Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid. Allah has blessed His slaves with certain seasons of goodness, in which hasanat (rewards for good deeds) are multiplied, sayyi’at (bad deeds) are forgiven, people’s status is raised and the hearts of the believers turn to their Lord. Those who purify themselves attain success and those who corrupt themselves fail. One of the greatest acts of worship is fasting, which Allah has made obligatory to his slaves. As the status of this act of worship is so high, it is essential to learn the Ahkam (rulings) that have to do with the month of fasting, so that the Muslim will know what is obligatory, in order to do it, what is haram, in order to avoid it, and what is permissible, so that he does not need to subject himself to hardship by depriving himself of it. This book is a good summary of the rulings, etiquettes, and Sunnah of fasting.

Fiqh of Fasting

By Bilal Philips. The prescribed book for the course is Subulus-Salaam by the 17th century Yemenite scholar Muhammad ibn Ismaa‘eel as-San‘aanee which is a commentary on Buloogh al-Maraam written by Haafiz Ibn Hajar al- ‘Asqalaanee. In Buloogh the author gathered the majority of the hadeeths which are commonly used as the basic evidences for the Islaamic legal system. The course material is comprised of the Chapter on Fasting (Kitaab as-Siyaam) from Subulus-Salaam.

Essentials of Ramadhan

By Tajuddin B. Shuaib. Extract from book: ‘this is an in-depth resume of the essential rules and laws on the fiqh of fasting designed to proivide the reader with explanations for both spiritual and physical significance and uniqueness of this remarkable act of worship.’

Zakat al-Fitr

By Muhammad Salih Al-Munajjid. This short book explains the necessity for the proper collection and distribution of Zakat.

Why Do Muslims Fast?

Why Do Muslims Fast?

Dr. Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 11 | Size: 1 MB

Most of us who are fighting the battle of the bulge have experimented with some form of fasting, like an all fruit fast, a water fast or an sugar-free fast, you name it. But what many may find rather strange and intriguing is a whole nation of people; be it man or woman, old or young, rich or poor; going completely without food and drink from dawn to dusk for a whole month – Ramadan. What is the significance of Ramadan beyond shortened work hours? Is it not a very harsh practice? Is it merely a time when Muslims sleep and fast and hardly work all day; and eat, drink, enjoy and stay awake all night? What really is the spirit of Ramadan?

Islam And Christianity

Islam And Christianity

Ulfat Aziz-us-Samad | Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 106 | Size: 3.5 MB
Islam accepts all the Prophets and believes in the Divine origin of the great religions of the world. It is, therefore, with feelings of profound reverence and love for both Jesus and Muhammad for the religions which they preached that the author of this book has attempted a comparative study of Christianity and Islam. If at times she disagrees with Christians, it is not over the religion of Jesus Christ, but over the somewhat altered shape and features that it developed after the departure of Christ. In the words of Lord Headley, ” Islam and Christianity, as taught by Christ himself, are sister religions, only held apart by dogmas and technicalities which might very well be dispensed with.”

Islamic Verdicts On The Pillars Of Islam (2 Vol. Set)

Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih Al-Uthaymeen | Language: English | Format: PDF | 2 Vol. Set | Pages: 773 | Size: 20 MB

The Fatawa presented in these volumes have been selected from the whole collection of the Fatawa of the learned Shaikh Muhammad bin Salih Al-’Uthaimeen and translated into the English language. These Fatawa are distinguished by their reliance upon the Book of Allah, the Most High, the Sunnah of His Messenger (S) and the opinions of the scholars who are known for their investigative powers.

We hope that these Fatawa will provide the people great help, knowledge and understanding of the finer points of religious aspects.

All praise and thanks are to Allah, we praise Him and we seek His Aid and we ask His Forgiveness; and we seek refuge with Allah from the evil of ourselves and the wickedness of our deeds. Whomsoever Allah guides, there is none to misguide him and whomsoever He leaves astray, there is none who can guide him. And I testify that none is worthy of worship except Allah and I testify that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger, may the peace of Allah and bountiful blessings be upon him and upon his family and Companions. As for what follows:

Some brothers, may Allah reward them with goodness, have expressed a desire to see some of the questions related to the pillars of Islam which were asked of our Shaikh, the most learned Shaikh, Muhammad bin Salih Al-’Uthaimeen may Allah, the Most High bless him. The hope was for them to be published in the Arabic language and following that, to be translated into many different languages in order to spread the benefit of them. Indeed, these verdicts are distinguished by their reliance upon the Book of Allah, the Most High, the Sunnah of His Messenger (S), and the opinions of the scholars who are known for their investigative powers. So I put the matter to our Shaikh may Allah bless him and reward him for his support for Islam and the Muslims with the best of rewards and he welcomed the idea and encouraged it, since it was a form of mutual cooperation in encouraging the good and forbidding the evil, and of spreading Islamic knowledge.

After His Eminence expressed his agreement and gave his advice, the process of gathering these Fatawa and selecting them from the whole collection of the Fatawa began and continued until the work was completed.

I ask Allah, the Almighty, the All-Powerful by His Grace and Generosity to make this work beneficial and to make it purely for His Noble Face, and that He reward His Eminence, our Shaikh with the best of rewards, and to bless him in his knowledge, his deeds and his life-span. Verily, Allah is Beneficent and Generous. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon our Prophet, Muhammad and upon all of his family and his Companions.

Fahd bin Nasir As-Sulaiman
